What should I look for in a fleet management partner?
Whether your requirements are basic or advanced, choose a fleet management partner with a trusted reputation, advanced technology and a broad range of products.
Netstar offers national coverage to support your fleet wherever you operate across South Africa.
-
When can I expect to see a return on investment?
Results vary, but a typical service company can expect to see a return on its initial capital investment and first year’s subscription within the first 90 days of installing a fleet management system.
-
Why are GPS tracking and fleet management important for my business?
Along with fleet data and visibility, a fleet management solution helps you manage compliance, improve driver behaviour and identify inefficiencies.
This can improve driver safety while saving your business time and money.
-
Will the Netstar odometer match my vehicle’s odometer?
Vehicle odometer readings can be affected by factors such as tyre size and wear. Most tracking devices calculate distance using GPS, so the two readings may differ over time.
We recommend updating the odometer value periodically through the software platform or by calling Netstar on 0860 12 24 36.
We also support CAN bus and OBD integration options that obtain the odometer reading directly from compatible vehicles.

Why should I invest in video telematics solutions for my fleet?
Netstar’s video telematics solutions help address two major challenges faced by fleet managers:
Driver safety
Real-time monitoring, alarm notifications and footage reviews help promote safer driving. Recordings can support driver training and help reconstruct incidents.
Managing fleet costs
Poor driving behaviour and accidents can lead to significant expenses. Video telematics helps prevent fraud and improve operational efficiency, supporting efforts to reduce fuel and maintenance costs.
-
What makes Netstar’s AI Camera solution a better choice to protect my fleet?
Netstar’s AI Camera solutions help you proactively monitor, manage and coach drivers to improve driving behaviour. The cameras use AI algorithms to recognise potential collisions and risky driving behaviour.
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)
A road-facing camera provides real-time information about safe following distances and potential forward collisions.
Driver Status Monitoring (DSM)
An in-cab, driver-facing camera monitors behaviour such as fatigue, distraction, cellphone use and seatbelt use.
Event recording and access
The AI cameras provide visual cues to the central unit to capture events and upload them to a secure evidence centre in the cloud.
Fleet managers can access real-time or historical data through the desktop application, web portal or mobile app. Mobile apps are available for Android and Apple iOS.
The system can also be configured to send email notifications containing a video link. Recordings can be used for training, education or as visual evidence for incidents and insurance claims.

How does storage affect the overall price of a solution?
Storage contributes to the overall cost of a video telematics solution. Different solutions use SD cards, SSD storage or a combination of both.
The storage type, capacity and current component pricing affect the overall price of your chosen solution.
