This web service provides a very practical and affordable alternative to consumers that do not have access to PNDs or navigation-enabled mobile phones. The following functions are available to the subscriber:

Motor Manufacturers in SA deploy Navteq maps in their navigation systems. Navteq has incorporated ANT’s Location Code Tables into their data, and tests are expected to commence in late 2010.

These in car systems are pre equipped with traffic receivers and will have the ability to receive the Altech Netstar Traffic Message Channel transmitted on a Radio Data Signal (RDS) in the near future.

Most navigation-enabled mobile device can receive Altech Netstar Traffic information via GPRS messages. These are overlaid on the map based on the device or sent to the device, and the user is alerted to incidents and congestion and offered alternative routing to minimise delays.

Altech Netstar Traffic is supported on Portable Navigation Devices available from Garmin and Navigon.

These portable devices are equipped with traffic receivers to receive the Altech Netstar Traffic Message Information Channel transmitted on a Radio Data Signal (RDS).
 

The service is available in the greater Gauteng region, Durban and Cape Town.
